Gourmend began in Ketan's kitchen, shortly after he was diagnosed with IBS and prescribed a low FODMAP diet. Determined not to sacrifice flavor, Ketan dove into research—exploring lesser-known plant parts and preserving seasonal finds from local farmers markets. He began freezing ingredients like green garlic scapes and scallion tops to cook with year-round, and developed his own spice blends and broths that didn't trigger symptoms.
When he realized he could recreate everything he loved to eat—with better ingredients and no digestive issues—he knew he had something worth sharing. Gourmend launched with a single product in the summer of 2020: Garlic Scape Powder, a natural, low FODMAP alternative to garlic that quickly developed a cult following. The success of that first product led to the launch of Organic Chicken Bone Broth, and the product line has grown from there, grounded in the same mission: clean, gut-friendly cooking without compromise.
