Mālama first fruited in 2015 as a small farm in Kona, Hawaii when founder (& funguy) Benjamin produced his first Hawaii-grown mushrooms in an underground lava-formed cave.
Ben was fascinated by the world of fungi and wanted to make his exploration of the world of mushrooms his job. Unfortunately, no one was hiring for 'enthusiastic mushroom guy' so he knew he had to create the job himself.
Fast forward to today, he has wrangled in his family & friends to help him on his mushroom mission of creating & sharing high-quality fung-tional superfood mushroom products that integrate easily into your daily routine and to support your overall health & wellness.
Every dollar supports their non-profit, the Hawaii Fungi Project; a citizen-science organization devoted to studying & preserving the native mushrooms of Hawaii.
Only 7% of fungi species has been discovered, what potential benefits could be found in the remaining 93% undiscovered species? Benjamin intends to find out!
