The story of Lindt & Sprüngli begins in 1845 when confectioner David Sprüngli-Schwarz and his son Rudolf Sprüngli-Ammann have a groundbreaking idea: Becoming the first to produce chocolate in solid form in the German-speaking area of Switzerland.
The Lindt Chocolate Competence Foundation aims to safeguard Switzerland's leading position as a chocolate manufacturing country and reinforce and expand Swiss chocolate expertise. The core project of the foundation is the Lindt Home of Chocolate.

The Lindt Cocoa Foundation has the declared purpose of working to achieve social and ecological sustainability in the cultivation, production and processing of cocoa and other raw materials used in chocolate production. Also, it supports the Lindt & Sprüngli Farming Program with additional fundings.
