Dried figs business has always been a traditional business in Aegean region of todays Turkiye since early ages. It was mainly dominated by foreign traders till beginning of 20 th century. TARIS emerged first in dried figs then widespread to sultana raisins,cotton & olive oil afterwards to protect the rights of growers against traders to avoid downsizing of selling prices. TARIS acted as a trading company to increase the sales of figs with protecting growers especially on problematic crop years. TAR means short of form of agriculture in Turkish. IS means business in Turkish.
