Alpha Lipoic acid is an anti-radical substance. It can effectively enhance the body's immune system, protect it from damage of free radical, restore and improve the body's ability to build muscle and lose fat. It can also improve insulin sensitivity, and boost the activity of other antioxidants.

Alpha Lipoic acid comes in two forms, designated as 〝R-lipoic acid”and“S-lipoic acid”, where R-form is the more bioavailable and more absorbable. Lipoic acid is not very stable. It has a tendency to polymerize with exposure to heat, light, and moisture. This issue can be solved by stabilizing lipoic acid (same as R-lipoic acid) with sodium, tromethamine etc. and other formulation technologies.
