Folkland Foods is born out of a 4th generation family business, built around potatoes! Our grandfather and his brother had built a small regional potato chip brand based at our home farm, using our farm's own potatoes. That business was sold in 2008 before we were able to be involved, so Colt and I (Zack) have always wanted to start our own vertically integrated brand on the farm and live up to our grandfather's legacy.
We had also been looking for the better part of 10 years for a way to transition our entire farm to organic and regenerative practices. One of the biggest opportunities we had seen in that decade of talking about brands was frozen potatoes. So we settled on organic french fries as our first product when we formally started the brand in January 2024.
Our third founder Brian, brough the manufacturing and operational expertise; originating in his days working for our grandfather. We started immediately putting together plans for a production facility, designing the brand, formulating the products.
We knew nothing about french fries, but set out with a goal: make the best tasting, cleanest ingredient lists, most authentically mission-driven business that was humanly possible. We came up with products that are wildly different than your standard frozen fries, and that delivered with an ingredient list that is only ingredients that you can find in your own kitchen- cooked in olive oil and tossed in real herbs and spices.
We got our facility running in April of 2025, landed on shelf in June of 2025, and as of today are in over 900 stores. After a very tight few years, we are ready to bring our fries to every customer who wants them!
