Our story begins with our founder Dan Oliver was a hungry college student. His mother had given him some chicken thighs, and rather than cook it up plain, Dan began to experiment with different homemade seasoning blends. Eventually, Dan O made the first blend of what would later become Dan-O's. He'd spend the next 15 years experimenting with this blend to perfect it, and sharing it with friends and family. During 2013, Dan was working as a bartender and longing for a more stable lifestyle, he began searching for a million dollar idea to get out. While looking, he brought a piece of his signature leftover chicken to a bar regular, who after just one bite, proclaimed "Dan, this is the best chicken I've ever had, why aren't you selling this?" Thus Dan-O's was born in 2015, and after a year of product and brand development, the first bottle was sold in 2016.
Dan started with only $8,000 and relied on trade shows, flea markets, and anywhere else he could get a table to sell his signature seasoning. But after the COVID-19 pandemic that all changed. With his main source of income gone, Dan had to come up with a way to move product fast, and that's when he pivoted to social media. Dan began to make TikTok recipes where he quickly grew a large social media following with his viral videos like parmesan crusted potatoes. Since then, Dan-O's has grown a large social media following that supports both Dan and the brand, with over 3.5 million followers on TikTok, and 172k followers on Instagram. Dan continues to develop new and exciting seasonings like Dan-O's Chipotle, Crunchy, and his latest, Cheesoning with plans for more on the horizon.
