Riso Gallo was founded in Genoa and started to process imported paddy rice in 1856. Then the factory was transferred to Robbio, in the heart of the Italian rice growing region.
In 1940 since illiteracy was still widespread, the company used to identify the different varieties of rice by using images on animals. The cockerel associated with best quality rice became the symbol of the company itself.
Riso Gallo is one of the bggest rice producers in Europe, spreading the products in more than 80 countries in the world.
