Kyle and Fane first met right after college while working in consulting. They quickly became close friends, bonding over their shared passion for cooking and recreating the Asian dishes they grew up with. Through their time in the kitchen, they discovered a natural dynamic and complementary strengths as teammates, sparking the idea that they could one day build something together.
After moving to Portland to work at Nike, they were inspired by the city's vibrant startup food scene and saw an opportunity to innovate within the modern Asian food space. From this vision, The Lucky Ox was born, a brand that celebrates the resilience and stories of their hardworking immigrant parents while reimagining the bold, authentic Asian flavors for the modern consumer.
