If the Vikings enjoyed recovery drinks after their raids, it was probably something like åKrrush. Made in Norway using a zero-waste process that boosts bioavailability, åKrrush is an exceptionally efficient way to consume protein that would have impressed the über-optimized Vikings, who were so crafty they built double-ended longships that could reverse direction without wasting time turning around.

The voyage to åKrrush began in 2018, when Lyme disease wrecked Norwegian founder Rune Sydengen's health, withering him down to a scant 86 pounds. He discovered the power of bone broth with CBD to nourish his body and regain his health.


"After being sick, I realized the importance of healthy food in rebuilding the body," he says. "The long-term view is medicine alone does not do the trick, but what you eat rebuilds your body long-term."

He launched a line of CBD-infused foods in 2018. Legal and banking barriers got in the way. Sydengen moved toward bone broth without CBD, as the broth was the food in that line that had the greatest nutritional benefits. He launched in the spring of 2021 through his company Identity International, headquartered in Seattle, Washington. It is manufactured in Norway, and in 2025 has been re-formulated and re-branded as aKRRUSH Bone Broth.
