Sustainably sourced from the pristine waters of the Norwegian Sea, Pure Ocean Balance is building a single‑origin mineral platform that transforms bitterns—the concentrated solution remaining after sea salt crystallization—into clean, highly absorbable supplements for women 50+.

In 2012, Oregon‑born founder Michal Bietz moved with her Norwegian husband and their children to Gossen, an island off Norway’s west coast that his family has called home for generations. Inspired by the purity of the ocean and the tidal rhythms that shaped their days, she began making sea salt in her kitchen. Early batches quickly caught the attention of local chefs, leading her to found a modern saltworks and revive Norway’s long‑dormant salt‑making industry. Since 2014, the company has supplied one of the world’s finest sea salts—supported by Certificates of Analysis—to retailers, artisan producers, and Michelin‑starred chefs across Europe and the United States, earning a reputation for purity, traceability, and consistency.

Today, that saltworks underpins a scalable, single‑origin mineral platform. In collaboration with scientists at the University of Palermo, Pure Ocean Balance has developed a process to recover and refine magnesium, potassium, and calcium from these bitterns, producing ultra-pure, cGMP‑manufactured, third‑party tested supplements: gentle, highly absorbable magnesium and pure electrolytes with no fillers, sugar, flavors, or sweeteners; labels that you don’t have to decode. Each product features transparent labeling and scannable Certificates of Analysis published quarterly.

Michal is building a company grounded in focus, purpose, and balance—with time to enjoy this phase of her life. When she’s not in the lab, she’s often in nature or in the kitchen, surrounded by good food, family, and friends.
